We have some fantastic news to share from our Design and Technology (D&T) lessons this week!
Our brilliant Year 3 and 4 students have been channeling their inner architects and engineers to create some truly spectacular—and sustainable—desk tidies. Before diving into construction, the children started the week by exploring the fundamentals of building. They investigated different types of construction, learning all about shell structures and how everyday objects hold their shape. Next came the real brain-teaser: mastering 3D geometry!
The students learned how to deconstruct and reconstruct nets into 3D shapes, gaining a hands-on understanding of how flat plans transform into solid objects. Putting their new knowledge to the test, the classes took old, recycled boxes, carefully deconstructed them, and then reconstructed them according to their very own unique designs. The Result? A vibrant collection of completely personalised, eco-friendly desk tidies! From pencil holders to secret compartments, the creativity on display was absolutely mind-blowing.
We are incredibly proud of how hard Year 3/4 worked, demonstrating amazing problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a wonderful commitment to recycling. A huge well done to our next generation of designers!
